Regarding subscription ... The internet calendar does not change Google calendar when you make a change to your Matrix activity, for instance, moving an appointment activity. It just shows up as an entry and stays. It isn't reverse-editable from Google calendar (thereby affecting the Matrix entry). So I'm not sure this is a good replacement for a calendar.

Can you provide more information on this?
Have you tried the new Internet Calendar Subscription that works with Google Mail and Outlook? Check out the setup under the Integrations tab on My profile
Place your activities into Matrix and Google/Outlook can read those into their calendars.
