Quicker emailing
There should be a direct link under actions to allow us to send emails
We’ve wrapped up an integration with Office 365 that will allow you to send emails from directly within Matrix.
If your organization uses Office 365, let us know about it by reaching out to your Matrix Success Manager.
If you do not use Office 365, you can still click on any email address from within Matrix and it will load your default mail client.
Simply creating a new, blank email like you would do from Outlook is not something that Matrix is capable of doing and probably not something we’re looking to get into as a product/company.

I understand your need now. What if this email functionality was built into the main search within Matrix?
Let me preface this by saying that I have no idea if what I'm about to say is even possible given our current architecture...but it seems like a very easy workflow that could address your need.
Workflow:
1. Click the search magnifying glass between the Support and Logout buttons in the main navigation
2. Search for your contact
3. results return, and a quick action Envelope for emailing appears in the results.
4. Clicking this will be the same as clicking the email address for that contact and open the default mail client.Thoughts? I feel this keeps the UI clean and combines a feature all users are already using (the main search).

Well, when comparing this to a traditional email solution such as outlook, the process of sending an email seems much more cumbersome.
After taking some time and going through all the different options of getting to where I can initiate an email, I see that the easiest way --appears-- to be pulling up contacts, doing a search, then clicking the email link.
My suggestion would be having an "email" button, something like an envelope on the top bar. This button would be a search feature where you type in a partial/full contact name, and once you select from the dropdown under the search, it automatically initiates an email.
The behavioral change of using Matrix rather than outlook for email is a tough road, and I think the ease of something like this would facilitate that behavioral change much better.

Matrix uses your default mail client, such as Outlook, to perform all emailing. No emails are actually written or sent within Matrix.
You can, however, use any email address found within Matrix to initiate an email. This is beneficial as it will also BCC your Matrix Activity email address and create an activity for you against the contact and their affiliated company.
What is your need or problem that you are trying to solve that you feel a quicker emailing solution will assist in? What is your workflow?
Knowing the answers to these will help us understand if a possible solution could be implemented in the future. Thanks!

We actually have an idea in our backlog to do something similar ;) There are so many people switching to Google now due to the rising costs of Exchange so we would love to do some type of integration.
I'm not sure if any of these other features with Gmail would be of interest to you or not but would love to hear your opinion
- Search for, Display information for, and create contacts in Matrix from Gmail.
- Allow for easier Activity creation from gmail via the contacts and display important information like upcoming activities and deals where the contact is involved while reading an email from that contact in Gmail.
- Allow for easier saving of emails into Matrix for future referenceLet me know what you think about any of those ideas on top of your existing. Could be developed separately, but it gives you an idea of the things you might be able to do.
Thanks for your input!

Would love Matrix to connect with Gmail in order to send and receive mail directly through your program.
