not have the screen go back to january every time! very annoying when you navigate away from the page and go back

Don't forget that you can make use of your browsers tabbing functionality and right click -> open in a new tab.
That is generally the standard way of navigating the web when you find yourself bouncing back and forth between pages (think reading a blog or online news article where you "read more..." and it opens in a new tab and leaves your current page in place).
